Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation

About Us

The Foundation is the principal fundraising body for the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and is dedicated to working with the community to improve the quality of life for this and future generations of seriously ill children.

The Foundation helps the Hospital to purchase state of the art medical equipment and financially support life saving services, as well as undertake medical and child health research.

The Foundation has a vital and continuing role in preserving and enhancing the services and standard of health care provided by the Sydney Children's Hospital for our sick children.

The Foundation is committed to the pursuit of world-class standards in the quality of our services, the efficiency of our fundraising, our transparency, integrity, cost-effectiveness, accessibility and the correctness and effectiveness of good governance and administration.

In an era of rising health care cost, the challenge for the Foundation is not only to maintain community support for the Hospital, but also to increase it.

Our Mission

To provide significant financial assistance for the support of equipment, research and clinical services at the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.

Our Board

  • Jack Ford (Chairman)
    Mr Ford is Consultant to Sony Pictures Television, Deputy Chairman of Screenrights Limited and a director of Premium Movie Partnership, Full Circle Media and TV1. He has been a practising lawyer for over 25 years. Prior to joining Sony, he was a partner at Blake Dawson Waldron.
  • Skye Leckie (Deputy Chair)
    Skye Leckie has been in public relations and marketing for over twenty years, working primarily for a national retail chain and subsequently running her own Public Relations firm, Skye Macleod Enterprises, consulting to various companies on marketing. Skye has been on the highly successful Gold Dinner Committee for 13 years and was the Chairman of the Committee for three years. Skye is a Member of the Taronga Park Zoo Foundation.
  • Chris Jordan (Treasurer)
    Chris is the Chairman of Partners for the NSW office of KPMG and is the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Taxation which is an advisory body to the Federal Treasurer. He is a Board Member, Bell Shakespeare Company, Member, Sydney 2009 World Masters Organising Committee, a NSW government advisory body. Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
  • Richard Alcock
    Richard Alcock is the Managing Director of Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch International (Australia) Limited. He holds a number of corporate positions as an Advisor and Non-Executive Director. He is a former Senior Partner, Head of Governance at Allens Arthur Robinson, Lawyers. Richard is also a Director of The University of New South Wales Foundation Limited, and Art Exhibitions Australia Limited. He is a member of the Council of Knox Grammar School, a former Director of Sony Music Entertainment (Australia) Limited and the Australia Indonesia Institute.
  • Terry Clout
    Terry Clout is the Chief Executive of South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Health (SESIH), taking up the position in October 2007. From 2004 Terry headed the Hunter New England AHS. Terry is an experienced Senior Health Administrator, with past roles including Chief Executive Officer of the former Mid North Coast Area Health Service, Director Operations and Deputy CEO of the former Illawarra Area Health Service, Director of Health Services Implementation for NSW Health and Area Director of Corporate Services at the former South Western Sydney Area Health Service.
  • James Greet
    James Greet is Managing Partner of media executive search specialist The Ladder. James' extensive media industry experience spans 18 years at leading media and advertising agencies across the globe, most recently as CEO of OMD Australia.
  • Catherine Hogan
    Catherine Hogan has been a teacher for over 25 years working primarily with adolescents. Catherine is currently teaching secondary students at Kincoppal-Rose Bay School. She has had a special interest in the pastoral care and leadership of young people having held the roles of Leadership Coordinator and Pastoral Tutor to senior students. Catherine has a Diploma of Teaching and a BA from Macquarie University, Sydney.
  • Duncan Makeig
    Duncan Makeig is the General Counsel and Company Secretary of Lion Nathan Limited and is the Lion representative Director on the Boards of Bevchain (a joint venture with Linfox), Heineken Lion and Bacardi Martini. Duncan has been practising law in Australia, New Zealand and the USA for over 25 years.
  • Justin Milne
    Justin Milne was appointed Group Managing Director of BigPond, Australia's pre-eminent Internet Service Provider, in December 2005 following three years as BigPond's Managing Director. Justin holds a Bachelor of Arts from Flinders University. He is a member of the South Australian Economic Development Board and a past president of the Internet Industry Association. Prior to his career at Telstra, Justin was CEO of OzEmail and before that Managing Director of the Microsoft Network in Australia.
  • Kathy Shand
    Kathy Shand is the former Publisher of the Australian Jewish News and has been involved in the media and publishing for over twenty years. She is a past Board Member of the Royal Hospital for Women's Foundation and the Steering Committee of the RPA Foundation, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She has just completed her Masters of International Relations and is working at the University of Sydney.
  • Professor Les White
    Professor Les White is the Chief Paediatric Medical Office of NSW. He was awarded a Doctorate of Science and has a Masters of Health Administration. He is convener of the Greater Eastern and Southern NSW Child Health Network and holds the John Beveridge Chair of Paediatrics at the University of New South Wales. In 2007, he received an Order of Australia award for service to medicine, medical administration and the community in the field of paediatrics.

What We Raise Money For

Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation partners with the community to:

  • Provide funding for life-saving, state-of-the-art medical equipment
  • Support the refurbishment of wards and commissions capital works to improve facilities for our patients and families
  • Provide funding for the training of future paediatric specialists and other clinical staff
  • Support life-saving services such as the Centre for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders
  • Support cutting edge research projects
