Pram Push 1998

On the 30th November 1998, Students from the University of NSW began the challenging task of pushing a pram all the way from Byron Bay to Sydney to raise money for sick children from all over NSW who are treated at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.

The Pram Push course took the students through many coastal and country towns to finish at Circular Quay at 3pm on Thursday 10th December.

Cameron Mackintosh, event organiser and university student said, 'The whole team is ready and has been in training for months. We are going to push the pram between 35km and 100km a day.'

After departing from Byron Bay on the 30th November the group travelled via Ballina to Lennox Head and departed on the 1st December to travel to Maclean via the Pacific Highway. On the 2nd December they departed for Woolgoolga via Grafton City travelling on the 3rd December to Macksville via Coffs Harbour and Nambucca Heads.

On the 4th and 5th December the university students went through Wauchope, Kempsey and Taree and on the 6th they travelled to Nabiac and Hawks Nest. On the 7th and 8th the pram was then pushed to Maitland, then onto Hexham and Gosford. They then departed from Gosford on the 9th December and travelled to Hornsby. After this amazing 10 day journey they will finish pushing the pram at 3pm at Circular Quay Railway Station, Sydney.

'It is a challenge and a great experience, organising the Pram Push and we are excited about helping the sick children from Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, said Cameron Mackintosh.'
