2001 Sydney Motor Show revs up support for Sick Kids

The Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, in partnership with Shannons Insurance and Auctions, will again be the official Show partners for the 2001 Sydney Motor Show.

As the official charity of the show, the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation will host the Sydney Motor Show Exclusive Preview Cocktail Party on Thursday, 11 October - offering the opportunity for guests to privately preview the entire Motor Show, featuring an estimated 55 new, upgraded and previewed production and concept vehicles.

Guests will also have the opportunity to take part in a special raffle on the night. Additionally, the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick will benefit from selected items auctioned at the 2001 Sydney Motor Show Auction, which will be presented by Shannons Insurance and Auctions at the Sydney Exhibition Centre on Sunday, 21 October 2001 at 2.30pm.

Proceeds from the preview, raffle and auction will benefit the young patients at the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, which treats thousands of children a year through its extensive emergency, outpatient and outreach services.

Over the past two years, the Exclusive Preview Cocktail Party has raised $140,000 for the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick - and the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation (SCHF) and Shannons Insurance and Auctions are hopeful of raising even more funds this year.

Elizabeth Crundall, Chief Executive, SCHF said: 'The funds raised from the Exclusive Preview Cocktail Party are vital to the annual fundraising efforts of the Foundation.

'It is wonderful to see the community come together to take part in a premier Sydney event and help the seriously ill patients of the Sydney Children's Hospital'.

The 2001 Sydney Motor Show, opening to the public at the Sydney Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour on October 12, will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the first motor show held in Australia, following a discovery by a Sydney motoring historian.
