Volunteer's Appreciation Day 2004
Health Volunteers Appreciation Day took place at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick on Wednesday, 18 February 2004.
A celebration morning tea was held to honour the 300 plus volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year in the hospital. These dedicated volunteers offer their services and time in the Wards, Star Cafe, Administration, the School, the Foundation and for various camps throughout the year for Oncology, HIV Camp, Head Injuries Camp, etc.
Dr Michael Brydon, Co-ordinator of Clinical Services, presented each volunteer with a 'thankyou gift' from the hospital, in recognition of his or her services.
'Our volunteers make a real and enduring difference to the lives of patients, their families and Hospital staff,' said Dr Brydon.
'They provide help to the staff, including clerical duties, activities in the wards, fundraising, hospital school and the Cafe. The volunteers also provide companionship and support to the patients and their families.'
The volunteer program at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick is an integral part of Hospital operations. The services offered by the volunteer program enables the Hospital to provide the best service possible.
