Coles and Bi-Lo Dig Deep For Children with Cancer
On Friday December 9, eleven store managers from Coles Bi-Lo Supermarkets in the Central Coast Region, Regional Manager James Bourke and State Marketing Manager for NSW and ACT Grant Dennis presented Professor Glenn Marshall, Director of the Centre for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick with the first quarter of this financial year’s fundraising efforts – an impressive $220,928.74.
The 201 Coles and Bi-Lo Supermarkets across NSW and ACT fundraise on an individual store basis and since 2001 staff have organised special events and dinners, sold doughnuts and held raffles in-store. A favourite money raiser amongst staff was the inventive “raffle the manager” in which the winning staff member had the store manager at their disposal for a whole day!
“On behalf of Sydney Children’s Hospital we thank Coles Bi-Lo Supermarkets for their continuing commitment to helping children with cancer. Their outstanding support enables the Hospital to continue to provide world-class cancer treatment for seriously ill children” said Elizabeth Crundall, Chief Executive Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Coles and Bi-Lo Supermarkets staff in NSW and ACT have raised in excess of one million dollars since 2001 for children treated at the Centre for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
“We are proud to extend our commitment to the Sydney Children’s Hospital beyond one million dollars to help support the marvelous work that is done at the Hospital for seriously ill children” said Grant Dennis, Coles Bi-Lo Supermarkets State Marketing Manager.
