Early Christmas play panels for Sydney Children’s Hospital

Christmas has come early for the patients at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick, with the generous donation of eighteen new play panels worth over $9,000 to the wards.

The play panels have been sponsored by seven businesses and will be a welcome addition to the Hospital’s wards and waiting areas, providing the children with fun, safe and colourful play panels which will help distract them from feeling sick.

“Play therapy is an important part of how we treat patients at Sydney Children’s Hospital. Playing with toys is a way of reducing the negative effects of hospitalisation for the child and family and helps to manage their pain and create a positive environment” said Michelle Driver, Manager of Play Therapy at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

The play panels, designed by Sydney company Child Friendly Solutions, are either fixed to a wall or free standing. The colourful panels feature some great toys for the kids to engage with including a steering wheel, crazy mirror, and a toy phone to call home!

“The Hospital strives to make each child’s experience in Hospital as positive as possible and the generous donation of the play panels have helped put smiles on the faces of the children in the Hospital” said Elizabeth Crundall, Chief Executive, Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Seven companies have helped us achieve this donation by generously sponsoring each play panel to the Hospital, which will be installed across the Hospital including Emergency, the Eye Clinic and Outpatients. We hope the play panels will improve the quality of play for the children at the Hospital, and help to distract them from being sick – even for a little while,” says Anne Doyle, Director of Child Friendly Solutions.

The play panels are sponsored by:
Child Friendly Solutions
Huggies Nappies (Kimberly Clark)
Baby Panadol ( Glaxo Smith Kline)
Royal Randwick Pharmacy
Babies Galore Randwick
Gloria Jeans Randwick
