Anz Staff Support Sick Kids At Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick
On Wednesday, 20 June 2001, staff of ANZ Property and Construction Finance generously donated video recorders and televisions for the use of parents and seriously ill children treated in the Centre for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick. The two televisions and video units will help make the time spent in Hospital, for both parents and patients, more enjoyable.
Mr Guy Capper of ANZ Property and Construction Finance raised the necessary funds for the Hospital after his own daughter, Andrea, was diagnosed with Liver Cancer in December 2000. Andrea spent a great deal of time at the Hospital being treated for her serious illness.
'Many children treated at the Sydney Children's Hospital with illnesses such as Andrea's spend a great deal of time confined to bed, especially when receiving chemotherapy. One of the few pleasures these kids have is to watch their favourite videos,' said Guy.
'With the generous assistance of my colleagues at ANZ Property and Construction Finance, we were able to raise enough funds to purchase two televisions and video units'.
The Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for child health with a full range of specialist services treating children from all over NSW and Australia with many conditions including cancer, trauma, HIV/AIDS, congenital abnormalities, heart disease and respiratory disorders.
