Stars set to party on International Children’s Day
Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH), Randwick is set to mark International Children’s Day on Wednesday 22 October, with a party of circus proportions.
A guest list of celebrities and children’s entertainers will visit patients, families and hospital staff during the Hospital’s traditional Party Day celebrations.
Fuzzy from Network Ten’s Video Hits and Corey Payne with fellow team mates from the West Tigers Football Club will join children’s favourite Shrek in a special day of celebrations.
Party Day is an annual event for the team at SCH, where staff host a party for patients and their families, encouraging all to get into ‘party mode’ by dressing up in costume, decorating their respective wards or departments and joining in the day’s festivities.
This year’s theme is “Under the Big Top” with special guests Circus Extravaganza set to bring the circus to the Hospital, with face painters on site from 9am.
The NSW Police and Fire Brigade will also stop by the Hospital to join in the celebrations.
Professor Les White, Executive Director of Sydney Children’s Hospital said Party Day is an important event which aims to bring joy and play to the hospital experience.
“Being in hospital is tough for adults, let alone children,” said Professor White.
“Trying to make hospitalisation as pleasant and non-threatening as possible is part of our job, and something that we as a team take very seriously.
“Party Day is that one day a year where everyone in the Hospital can dress up and ‘party’ as children,' he said.
The day would not be possible without the support of the community, with staff from Bunnings Belrose, Fairfax, Paramount Australia, Tower Australia and UBS volunteering their time to help make the day a success.
