Sydney Children’s Hospital goes back in time for Party Day

Bad perms, leg warmers and bell bottom pants will make a re-appearance tomorrow Wednesday, 20 October when Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH) celebrates International Children’s Day.

Staff at SCH will host a ‘time warp’ themed party for patients and their families, transforming the wards and donning costumes to match the day’s playful theme.

Special Party Day guests include children’s group Hi 5 and Bondi Vet Dr Chris Brown.

Dr Michael Brydon, Paediatrician and the Hospital’s Director of Clinical Operations said Party Day is an important annual event for the Hospital, which aims to bring joy and play to the hospital experience.

“Being in hospital is tough enough for adults, let alone children,” said Dr Brydon.

“Trying to make hospitalisation as pleasant and non-threatening as possible is part of our job, and something that we as a team take very seriously.

“Party Day is that one day a year where everyone in the Hospital, can dress up and ‘party’ as children.

“We hope our young patients and their families enjoy the fun and frivolity of the day,” he added.
