Official Opening Of Sydney Children’s Hospital
The Premier, The Hon. Bob Carr, MP, and Dr. Andrew Refshauge, will be officially opening the Hospital on Friday, 12 June, 1998, at 11.00 a.m. For the information of all staff, an outline of the day's proceedings follow. In addition there will be a Celebrity Sleepover the night before and a series of community breakfasts early on the day (details later).
Whilst it is not possible to have all staff at the official opening, we very much want you to be a part of this special occasion. Starlight has arranged for TV sets on all wards to cover, if possible, the official proceedings which will take place at the front of the Hospital. You are invited to proceed to any Ward closest to you, or any Ward with which you have an association, to view the proceedings and to take part in the celebrations. Some staff and dignitaries will celebrate in the Outpatients Department. Catering will be provided on all Wards and there will be entertainment for the patients as well. There will be simultaneous ribbon cuttings on all Wards, performed by the Nursing Unit Manager - the Minister will lead the way. Balloons and ribbons will be supplied on the day, as well as a celebratory cake and party food catering. From 10.00 a.m. onwards, there will be roaming entertainment - Humphrey B. Bear, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Fairy Sparkle, Lavender Lily, Clowns, Magicians and face painters.
