Allen Allen & Hemsley continue to support SCH,R in 2000

Allen Allen and Hemsley (Allens), one of Australasia's leading law firms, have recently announced that they are continuing their support by funding the Allen Allen and Hemsley Neurology Fellowship at the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick for 2000 / 2001.

The sponsorship by Allens provides the opportunity for an outstanding doctor, already extensively trained in paediatrics, to undertake specific training in paediatric neurology at the Hospital. This support will allow the Fellow to gain significant practical and research experience to further develop expertise in this field, whilst increasing the level of service to seriously ill children from Sydney, New South Wales and beyond.

Mr Jim Dwyer, Partner and Chairman of Allen's Charity Committee said, 'The partners and staff of Allens are very proud to be associated with a facility of the calibre of the Sydney Children's Hospital. We hope our financial support and involvement makes a difference to the lives of many children.'

Professor Les White, Executive Director of Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick said 'The Hospital is extremely pleased to be continuing its association with a committed organisation such as Allen Allen and Hemsley. This partnership will ensure that the Sydney Children's Hospital is able to maintain its responsibility of leadership in research and training for future generations of specialists and assist in providing the highest level of care to our brave young patients.'

The Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for child health with a full range of specialist services treating children from all over NSW and beyond.

The Neurology Department treats children with problems such as brain and spinal cord tumours, epilepsy (affecting 1 - 2% of the population), muscle diseases, infections of the brain, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and migraines.
