| Description: | The department provides clinical services through the Avoca Clinic, in the Royal South Sydney Community Health Complex (RSSCHC), The Adolescent Service in the Superintendent’s Cottage located at the north east corner of the Randwick Campus and the Consultation-Liaison Service within Sydney Children Hospital. Pre-school and primary school children with emotional and behavioural problems such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties at school and home are predominantly seen at the Avoca Clinic. Young people of high school age with problems such as depression, eating disorders, school related difficulties and family conflict are mostly seen at The Adolescent Service. Children and young people of all ages can be seen at either clinic. The Consultation-Liaison psychiatry service provides assessment and treatment of mental health problems in Sydney Children Hospital - Emergency Department and wards. The Department provides a wide range of outreach services to the local community: pre-schools, schools, drug and alcohol services, Red Cross, youth refuges, and to rural areas in Southern NSW. Current research projects: Youth Suicide, Eating Disorders and Attention Deficit Disorder. |
