| Function: | To provide health care and support to families with children 0-5 years by assessment, early identification, prevention and referral as indicated. This is provide in a clinic setting and a home setting (if required) |
| Description: | Members of the Child & Family Health team are registered nurses with qualifications in Child & Family Health. Many of our staff are midwives and have lactation consultant qualification. We support families by providing expert parenting advice, psychosocial assessment of the mother (to identify postnatal depression and other mental health problems) and assessment of children’s growth and development 0-5 years. We see families individually or in a group setting through parenting groups run in the centres. We act as an advocate for the family and link them in to services as required. The Clinics run Monday to Friday from 9-12md & 2-4pm (see clinic timetables, some are part time clinics) The Child and Family Health Service includes the Early Childhood Health Team, Parent Support Team and School Health Team.
